As more of us opt to stay closer to home for our holidays, Ireland is a great choice. You can opt to stay in a bustling city, visit a smaller village or get back to nature out in the sticks. Here are some of the best places to visit in Ireland.
Dublin

It makes sense to start off with the most obvious suggestion. Budget airlines such as Ryanair always have cheap fares to Dublin, but you’ll find when you get there that the cost of living can be quite expensive. There is a Zoo for younger children and the Guinness Storehouse for adults! Enjoy a great view from the bar with the perfect pint. If the weather is good, enjoy a picnic in Phoenix Park. There’s also a plethora of designer boutiques for the shopaholics.
Killarney

Ensure that you bring comfortable walking shoes to visit here. Don’t miss Ireland’s first National Park; whether you rent a car or hike one of the walking trails.
Galway

In Galway, you can walk everywhere. Enjoy an artisan vibe and cobbled streets packed with independent shops, before stopping for a drink at a friendly pub.
Dingle

Visit here and you will be able to enjoy traditional Irish music in the local pubs. In good weather, you may even spot a dolphin who has become the town’s local mascot.
Cork

Cork is the third largest city in Ireland. To see the most of it, follow the signposted walking tour.
Westport

Westport is the perfect active destination for families. There’s golf, fishing, sailing, cycling and much more to choose from. There’s also an Arts festival in September.
Donegal Town

Donegal Town is idyllic; a cute harbour and calm beaches. It’s also the perfect place to buy quintessential Irish souvenirs such as hand woven tweed.
Sligo

Sligo is a pretty coastal town with lots to offer- from beaches to shops as well as ancient ruins for you to explore.
