Ryanair Check In

Ryanair requires online check-in for all of its flights. If you arrive at the airport having not checked in, you are subject to a fee of £45 per passenger (note, this does not apply to Business Plus passengers). Checking in online is simple and hassle free and definitely saves a lot of queueing time when you do arrive at the airport. To check in online with Ryanair, head over to your account (please call the contact number if you have forgotten your log in details) which can be found on the homepage of the Ryanair website. Once you have successfully logged in to your account, you can view all of your journey details and you can follow the instructions to check in for your upcoming flight(s). You will usually receive an email when check in is opening as a reminder. Check in usually opens seven days before a scheduled flight and closes up to two hours before. Seats are allocated to passengers when they check in free of charge. However, if you have purchased seats with your flight booking then you will be able to check in up to 30 days before the date of your flight. Please note that it is worth reserving seats on the plane if you are travelling with children or in a large group to guarantee that you are all sitting together for the journey. Please call the contact number if you would like to make additional reservations such as priority seating with extra legroom. Once you have checked in online, you will be presented with your boarding passes that you will need to print out and take to the airport on the day of your flight. If you have checked in online but have not received a printable version of your boarding pass, please call the contact number ASAP so that your issue can be rectified. Don’t worry if you have printed your boarding pass(es) and lost it, your boarding passes can be re-printed up to two hours before your flight, free of charge.

Ryanair Baggage Allowance

If you would like to put bags into the hold on a Ryanair flight, then you must select to add bags when you are making your booking. Any hold baggage is subject to a fee  and it depends on the time of year when you book your flight. Booking a flight online and adding baggage means you are purchasing checked baggage for one passenger, one way. You can choose to either purchase a 15 kilo bag which will cost you from £10 – £40 (usually more in peak times) or you can purchase 20 kilos for £5- £10 extra. There are a maximum of two hold bags allowed per passenger. These fees are for when you have added your baggage online via the ‘my bookings’ section of your account. This can be done up to two hours before your flight is due to depart. If you add baggage via the Ryanair contact number or when you arrive at the airport (you will be charged for an extra bag if your bag is above the allowance) then this will cost you slightly more. For more information about Ryanair baggage allowances and fees please call the contact number.

FAQ

How do I check in?

Flying with Ryanair requires you to check in online. It’s a simple process, just click ‘check in online’. It’s free to check in online from 7 days to 2 hours before your flight departs.

What cabin baggage can I carry?

You are allowed to carry one cabin bag weighing up to 10kg, with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. You are also allowed one small bag of up to 35 x 20 x 20 onboard the aircraft. The aircraft can only carry 90 cabin bags, so on busy flights you may be asked to put it in the hold free of charge.

What happens if I need special assistance?

Within each airport, there will be a special assistance desk. If you have pre-booked special assistance, present your boarding pass at the desk. You must be at this desk 2 hours before your scheduled departure time.

What Happens if I need to cancel a flight?

Although all flights can be changed up to two hours before a flight is due to depart (subject to a fee), all Ryanair flights are unfortunately non-refundable so if you cannot travel on your flight, you do not need to inform Ryanair directly as there is no way that you will receive your flight money as a refund. However, if you do need to cancel a flight you can always apply for a refund of the tax that you paid on the flight. This refund is not always guaranteed and are subject to an administration fee, but can be applied for up to one month after your missed flight. Please note that if you did not travel on an outbound flight, you are still entitled to use your return flight if needed.
