Booking with Megabus
Booking with Megabus is a simple and easy process. Simply type in the destination you would like to travel from, as well as where you would like to travel to. Once you have done this, you can choose options for if you are an NUS holder, and what dates you would like to travel between. If you are an NUS card holder, you will receive discount on tickets purchased through Megabus. Can I change my bus reservation if I need to?
Reservations can be changed. However, these must be done over 24 hours prior to the time you are due to travel on a Megabus. You will be able to do this through the website by finding the section labelled as ‘manage reservations’. From here you can select ‘modify bookings’. Alternatively, you can also dial the Megabus contact number and a customer service representative will be able to make the changes for you.
Will I be able to take a pet onboard a Megabus?
Unfortunately, Megabus will not be able to transport pets. The only animals that are allowed to travel are guide dogs that are accompanying a person with a disability. These guide dogs must be properly harnessed and will not be allowed to roam freely around the Megabus.
Are there any restrictions on what I can take in my travel luggage?
Yes, there are certain things that you will not be able to take on your Megabus journey. These include firearms, explosives, frozen foods, flammable items, raw meat, poisons, gas cylinders and any items that contain corrosives. You are also not allowed to take live animals on a Megabus with the exception of guide dogs (as stated above).
Do Megabus have disabled access buses?
If you are in a wheelchair and need to store it in the Megabus you’re on, this should be no problem, However, if you are wheelchair bound and need to remain in the chair for your journey with Megabus, do not buy your bus tickets online. Instead, ring the number above and we will put you in contact with a member of staff who can sort out your tickets for you. This is to ensure that your travel needs are met by the company, and you are not disappointed on the day if you do not have a place on the coach.
Who owns Megabus UK?
Megabus UK is owned by the Stagecoach group UK. It was founded in August 2003 and is a long distance coach operator to over 120 destinations around the world.
About Megabus
Megabus is a transport company owned and operated by the Stagecoach Group. It began in the United Kingdom in August 2003 with the first ever route being between London and Oxford. Since then, it has introduced 19 other routes including ones between Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff and more. The fares for travelling with the company are advertised as starting at £1 with a 50p booking fee. Megabus is also known for operating low-cost train travel within the East Midlands and South West known as Megatrain. The company is headquartered in Perth, Scotland and has hubs there, in London, in Glasgow and in Aberdeen.
