Currency

Travelex is the largest supplier of foreign currency in the world, except for banks. They buy and sell a wide range of foreign currency, so wherever you are visiting, you can get the right money.

Travelex Cash Passport

A cash passport is the easiest way to carry your foreign currency. It comes in several forms:

Multi currency

A multi currency card secures your exchange rate and you can load up to 10 currencies on it. You’ll also be able to withdraw your cash free at any ATM where Mastercard is accepted.

Globe cash passport

This type of cash card gives you maximum flexibility- calculating the exchange rate based on what it is that day.

Delivery Options

Once you have decided whether you would like cash or a card, you can choose how you wish to have your currency delivered to you. There are several methods, such as:

  • Click and collect- order online, collect at your local branch.
  • Home delivery- have your currency delivered to your home.
  • Office delivery- if you are based in London, you can have your currency delivered to your office.

The maximum amount of currency that you can order online is £4,999.99.

Phone Cards

Whether you’re abroad making a call home or vice versa, Travelex has a range of domestic and international phone cards that make calling significantly cheaper. They are available to use in 60 countries, with 24-hour assistance if necessary.

Currency buy back guarantee

There’s nothing worse than having currency left over when you get back from your trip abroad, only to find the exchange rate has gone down and you won’t get the same value for your money as you did when exchanging in the first place. For an extra fee, Travelex can secure the exchange rate, ensuring that if you do need to ‘buy back’ your currency, you’ll get the same rate as you paid.

Money Transfer

If you need to transfer money abroad, Travelex has teamed up with Western Union to provide this.

Travellers Cheques

Widely accepted across the world, travellers cheques allow you to exchange them for currency at your destination, or use them to pay for things whilst you are abroad.

Branches

There are over 1,500 Travelex outlets in airports and tourist locations across 26 countries.

About Travelex

Travelex was founded by Lloyd Dorfman in 1976. By 2000, it had expanded considerably, buying Thomas Cook’s foreign exchange division. However, by 2010 the company had experienced significant losses as a result of interest payments on large debts. Following the losses, the company sold various parts of its business, such as its money transfer operation to Western Union and it’s card payment division to Mastercard in order to help reduce debts.
