Aircraft engineers Boeing will not make changes to the stretched version of its popular Dreamliner model. This is despite one of their major clients Emirates‘ request for more efficient performance within hot climates. The confirmation came from a company executive back in November. He said:

“The plan is not to change the aircraft, we really like what we have.” When asked about possible developments of the aircrafts for Emirates’ by reporters in Dubai. Emirates, who are the largest operator of the Boeing 777, said last month that its decision on whether to place an order for 100 long-range planes with either Boeing or Airbus is on hold. The two manufacturers were previously said to be working on their respective models in order to suit Emirates’ requirements.

The president of the airline said that he had doubts over ordering with Boeing because the 787-10 model may not have the ability to carry passenger and cargo loads for more than eight hours, which would naturally be an issue for an airline based in the Arabian Gulf. However, he added that the majority of the airline’s flight times did not exceed eight hours. This could mean that Airbus has more chance of winning the contract, as they have a flight time of 14 hours. Boeing have said that the 787-10 will be their ‘best model yet’, but currently Airbus are fulfilling more orders than Boeing for their new model.
