Whenever we travel somewhere, one of the first instincts is to take photos. You’re then likely to upload them to your social network of choice with a suitable range of hashtags in the hope of getting likes. Have you ever wondered what the most photographed locations are? Instagram has compiled a list of the locations that were most geotagged throughout 2015 and the results may surprise you…
1. Disneyland- Anaheim, California

It’s the original happiest place on Earth, so not surprising that it’s number one on the list. Visitors love taking pictures of it’s iconic pink castle and stunning parades.
Visit: Stay in the official Disneyland hotel by booking through Expedia.
2. Times Square, New York

The bright lights of the Big Apple shine brightest here, so it’s only right that it is number two on the list.
Visit: Fly to New York with Virgin Atlantic.
3. Central Park, New York

A sprawling piece of nature in a city metropolis, every inch of Central Park is photogenic!
Visit: Find a hotel near Central Park with Trivago.
4. Eiffel Tower, Paris

Originally a temporary structure, the Eiffel Tower has become the most iconic landmark in France, but it isn’t the only one in Paris to make the list!
Visit: Why not take the Eurostar to visit Paris.
5. Walt Disney World, Florida

The magic of Disney strikes again, with Walt Disney World Florida coming in at number 5.

6. Musée de Louvre, Paris

Home of the Mona Lisa, the Louvre is one of the most popular museums in the world.

7. Dodgers Stadium, Los Angeles

The Americans are serious about baseball, so no wonder they love taking photos of the Dodgers stadium!

8. Santa Monica Pier, California

Beach please…this dreamy photogenic pier makes it into the top 10!

9. Madison Square Garden, New York

Home of the New York Knicks, Madison Square Garden is a popular photography subject!
10. Red Square, Moscow

Moscow’s most famous cathedral, the Red Square is a tourist hotspot for great photos and closes the top 10!

11. Universal Studios, Los Angeles

If you visit here, you can tour a working studio and visit famous film and TV sets. Plus, a Harry Potter world is set to open in April 2016!

12. Siam Paragon, Bangkok

This shopping mall has it all- a multiplex cinema, karaoke centre, bowling alley and of course, shops. It’s a pretty cool location to photograph!
Visit: You will most likely have to stopover on the way to Bangkok.
13. Ibirapuera Park, Sao Paulo

This park is a major urban park in Brazil, popular with people keeping active as well as housing a museum and music hall.
Visit: British Airways offers flights to Sao Paulo.
14. Yankee Stadium, New York

Another sporting venue, another hit for baseball! The Yankee Stadium is popular with tourists and fans alike.
Visit: For a truly sporty trip to NY, book tickets to see the Yankees and the Knicks!
15. Museum of Metropolitan Art, New York

Those famous steps have been featured in many TV shows and films, but the Met is also home to some amazing artworks.
Visit: The Met is in Midtown Manhattan, so easily accessible.
16. Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco

San Francisco’s famous bridge is incredibly photogenic, thanks to its red coating.
Visit: Looking at this list, I think a California road trip is in order…Los Angeles, Santa Monica and San Francisco!
17. Brooklyn Bridge, New York

Walk the length of this bridge for incredible views of Manhattan and then upload the results to Instagram, obviously.
Visit: You’re at number 17 on this list and you still haven’t booked your trip to New York? Come on!
18. Empire State Building, New York

If you look closely, you’ll see King Kong swinging off of it…

19. Disneyland, Tokyo

Disneyland hasn’t quite finished it’s Instagram domination, with Tokyo coming in at number 19 on the list of most instagrammed places.
Visit: You can fly to Tokyo from London Heathrow with British Airways.
20. Disneyland, Paris

Bringing up the rear, it’s Disneyland Paris- completing Disney’s total domination of the most instagrammed list!
Visit: Combine with your visit to the Louvre and Eiffel Tower.
So, there’s your top 20! What is most surprising about this list is the amount of landmarks missed out that you would expect to be there- Sydney Opera House, Great Wall of China, the Colosseum. Not only that, nowhere in London made the list! We decided to compare the Instagram list to Facebook’s ‘most checked in places’ and number one and two were Disney and Universal- clearly popular places to brag about to your friends on social media.
