Qatar Airways has announced that it is planning to introduce two additional services between Manchester and Doha this year. The extra service will commence from May and will provide customers with the option to transfer onto flights to the likes of Australia, Asia and beyond, via Hamad International Airport.
The additional flights will use the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and will operate on a Monday and Saturday, bringing the total amount of non-stop flights between the two destinations to 16. This model of aeroplane has two cabins, with 22 seats in business class and 232 in economy class. All seats benefit from a backseat entertainment system, showing the latest movies, TV shows and more.
A spokesperson for the UK division of Qatar Airways said that increasing services between the two destinations will give passengers more convenient connection times, as well as more choice when it comes to choosing onward flights through the state of the art Qatar Airways hub at Doha airport.
The announcement of new Manchester services has been combined with the announcement of an eight times weekly service from Birmingham, meaning that in total, Qatar Airways will operate a total of 73 direct services per week to Doha, giving UK residents access to over 154 destinations across the world.
In May 2014, the airline added Edinburgh to it’s list of airports. The Birmingham service will launch in April 2016. This will bring the total amount of destinations that Qatar Airways serves in the UK to four, including London Heathrow.
The new route announcement comes as it was revealed the airline has invested in the new Boeing Airbus model which is said to reduce jetlag. It reduces jetlag by using LED lighting during the flight to help the body adjust to the time frame within a flight. It can also be pressurized at 6,000 feet which is said to help jetlag.
