Stagecoach, a company which operates buses and trains in the UK and across the continent through it’s brand Megabus, has said that the terror attacks in Paris are behind slow revenue growth as people are avoiding travelling to major cities.

The company said that since mid-November, they have witnessed a reduction in the rate of revenue growth through its rail and coach operations across the UK and Europe.

The Chief Executive said:

“We believe that revenue has been adversely affected by the terrorist attacks in Paris discouraging people from travelling to major cities.”

He was, of course, referring to the devastating attacks by members of the Islamic State, killing 130 people in co-ordinated attacks across Paris on November 13th. The company said that it expected to recover in the short term, but that it would be adjusting its forecasts for the average earning per share as a result.

Meanwhile, Transport for London (TFL) who run the public transport network across London said that travelling habits have not changed since the attack. In fact, the transport network broke its record for its busiest day on the 4th December, with almost 5 million customers. A spokeswoman said that she expects the record to be broken once again before the year is out.
