Take a quick scroll through Instagram and you’ll see that at least one of the celebrities that you follow is currently on holiday. They could be swimming in an infinity pool, skiing down a pure white slope or sipping cocktails in a bar. Wherever they are, there’s no doubt that celebrities have their favourite holiday destinations, but they have mixed it up a little during 2016 so far. We’ve seen the Beckhams celebrate David’s 40th in Morocco, Jon Snow/ Kit Harington looking very much alive in Rio de Janeiro and Mel B having fun in Turks and Caicos. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular vacation spots for our favourite celebs:

Back in January, it seemed like anyone who was anyone was on holiday in Miami. UK radio DJ Nick Grimshaw flew there, bringing along his London set of friends in Caroline Flack, Alexa Chung and Rita Ora- who flaunted her AMAZING beach body in a colourful one-piece swimsuit.
Where to spot the A-list: Prime 112 is one of Miami’s best steakhouses. Kimye regularly enjoys date nights here when Kim goes to visit her Dash boutique and supermodel Gisele Bundchen likes to break her diet for the tasty desserts. Trip Advisor reviews say it would take ‘too long’ to list everything on the menu that one reviewer likes, which is a pretty great compliment.

This Caribbean gem has been a long time favourite of the celebrity crowd. This year, we’ve seen model Bella Hadid showcase her enviable figure in the sea, megastar Hugh Jackman holding hands with his loving wife and music legend Paul McCartney rang in the New Year there.
Where to spot the A-list: Though celebrities often flock to St. Barts on their luxury yachts, they often stay at the beachfront Eden Rock Hotel. Grab a table at the Sand Bar for amazing views and enticing cocktails. Reviews are great on Trip Advisor; one reviewer said that the hotel is ‘one of the most amazing places in the Caribbean’.

Until very recently, travel to Cuba was banned for US citizens, unless visiting as part of an educational tour group. Now, as the relationships are defrosting, it’s emerging as an ideal holiday destination for both weather and culture. Recently, the Kardashians were spotted on a family vacation there, complete with Cuban cigars and travelling around in classic cars.
Where to spot the A-list: Whilst they were there, it’s rumoured the Kardashians dined at San Cristobal Paladar. Obama also ate here on his recent Presidential visit, so reserving in advance is advised. Once there, you can expect plenty of Cuban seafood. However, the Trip Advisor reviews aren’t overly complimentary, with some people stating that it is ‘overrated’ and ‘average’.

Another long time celebrity favourite, Hawaii is famous for its idyllic beaches, surf-safe seas and tropical weather. A vacation here can be like the whole of Hollywood has just moved to the beach for a week; Jessica Alba, Kate Bosworth, Britney Spears and Audrina Partridge have been spotted here in 2016.
Where to spot the A-list: The Kahala Hotel + Resort is a getaway favourite for celebrities including Snoop Dogg, Bill Clinton and Tiger Woods. It’s located in Honolulu. Trip Advisor reviews are positive, with one reviewer saying that it has ‘breathtaking views, unparalleled customer service and a gorgeous private beach.’ Not to mention, Hawaii has made itself the home of many celebrities such as Owen Wilson, Clint Eastwood, Oprah and Julia Roberts.

Thanks to its close proximity to the USA, Mexico is another popular vacation spot for the A-list. Just recently, real-life Scrubs besties Zach Braff and Donald Faison have been spotted here, as well as Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow. It’s no surprise, though, given that the weather is amazing, there are plenty of luxurious villas for privacy and it’s close to home.
Where to spot the A-list: Cabo San Lucas is only two hours away from Los Angeles by air, so it’s understandable that it’s probably the most popular celebrity vacation resort in Mexico. Jennifer Aniston, Ryan Seacrest and George Clooney have been spotted here. Zach and Donald stayed at the Cape Hotel, which has a ‘must visit’ rooftop bar and rooms with ‘breathtaking views’ according to travellers on Trip Advisor.

Where to spot the A-list: The Vedema is a luxury resort where the likes of Angelina Jolie and Heidi Klum have found tranquillity. It is a 5-star hotel with several dining choices, a helicopter service and multiple luxury suites, with views that overlook the surrounding vineyards.

Made in Chelsea: South of France has just hit our screens, and not only are we over the moon that Francis Boulle has finally returned, but we’re also incredibly jealous of the setting. Every summer, the DJs flock to Ibiza to begin their summer of residencies or one-off gigs. We’ve seen Craig David take his TS5 Pool Party to Ibiza Rocks, David Guetta’s Fxck Me I’m Famous at Pacha is still going strong and Ushuaia has a stellar line up every summer. Example performed at the latter recently and decided to hire a yacht to take his stunning wife and adorable baby jet-skiing. Family goals.
Where to spot the A-list: The Blue Marlin beach club is the perfect daytime spot to hang out and spot celebrities. You can eat dinner and then grab a cocktail as some of the best musicians entertain you. There’s a reason that this place is considered to be an Ibiza institution, and the celebrities know it too!

Santorini’s sister island, Mykonos, has a slightly more hedonistic vibe. Although it’s chilled in the daytime, when evening falls, you can find yourself staying out until the sun comes back out again. In recent weeks, Leonardo Di Caprio and Nicole Scherzinger are just a few of the celebs that have been spotted here.
Where to spot the A-list: Psarou Beach is a cosmopolitan beach surrounded by plenty of glamorous eateries. It’s the place to see and be seen in Mykonos, particularly if you want to see the celebrities. Be warned that in summer, there can be a waiting list for sunbeds.

Sardinia is a beautiful island in the Mediterranean sea. It’s the second largest, after Sicily and has the typical requirements of a perfect summer holiday: white sand and turquoise water. The island hasn’t really been known as a celebrity hotspot until this year, when reformed wild child Lindsay Lohan visited on her luxury yacht, bringing with her the world’s press who recounted her every movement. In the past when celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Seal visited, the island stayed largely quiet in the eyes of the media.
Where to spot the A-list: Porto Cervo is the most luxurious resort on the island, with a price tag to match. Romazzino Beach Bar is where the celebrities go for lunch after mooring their yachts, and it’s an ideal place to grab a casual drink and people watch.

Lake Como has been popular with the A-listers for years now. It’s the well-known hangout of George Clooney, as well as Madonna and Richard Branson. John Legend and his beautiful/hilarious wife Chrissy Teigen shot the video for ‘All of Me’ here, and they returned this summer on a vacation with their adorable baby Luna to the same house. Lake Como is dotted with many tiny villages, alongside stunning landscapes and great weather.
Where to spot the A-list: Villa d’Este is a 16th-century hotel overlooking Lake Como, on a backdrop of 25 acres. If you can’t afford to stay (and who can!) why not visit for lunch? You never know who you might bump into over a plate of fresh lobster.
So, after looking at where the celebrities have flocked to so far in 2016, are you feeling inspired? Not included are the usual hotspots such as the Maldives and Dubai.
