TfL rail trains will be free of charge between Brentwood, Shenfield and London on New Year’s Eve, as the result of a sponsor partnership. The transport provider has joined forces with KAYAK to provide the services, which will also be extended to the Tube services, trams, the DLR and the London Overground as well as buses.

Between 11.45 pm on December 31 and 4.30am on January 1st, the slow trains between Shenfield and London will also be free. The sponsorship is all part of TfL’s plans to generate over £3 billion of revenue from non-fares. They hope to raise this by 2020/21 to reinvest in modernisation and running of the network.

A spokesperson for TfL spoke of his pride regarding the sponsorship, stating that revellers will be able to enjoy New Year’s festivities across London, knowing that they will be able to return home safely and for free. He encouraged customers to plan their journey in advance so that they will be aware of all their travel options.

KAYAK is a travel search engine which shows travellers the information they need to make planning and management of their trips much simpler.

TfL has been organising free transport for New Year’s Eve partygoers since 2001. It is the largest transport network in the UK.
