British Airways is planning to launch 13 new services this year. They include three flights per week to Lima, the capital of Peru which launches in May. In April, the airline will launch twice weekly services to San Jose, Costa Rica. Both of these new routes will run from London Gatwick, where British Airways will also run a new flight to New York JFK- they already operate this route from London Heathrow. From Heathrow, you’ll also be able to fly to Kalamata and Chania in Greece, two lesser known destinations. You can also fly to Menorca, Biarritz, Palermo and Sicily from there. France’s wine region will also become more accessible with flights from London City Airport to Bergerac. From Gatwick, you can fly to Porto, a coastal city in Portugal.

 Thomas Cook

Thomas Cook will make areas of the USA more accessible to UK residents, with new long haul flights to Los Angeles, Miami and Boston from Manchester Airport. The popular resort of Antalya will also become more appealing for Scottish travellers, as they’ll be able to fly directly there from Edinburgh in the summer.

Ryanair

The budget airlines aren’t missing out on developing new routes and for Ryanair, the focus is on Italy. Milan and Verona will be more pocket friendly, with routes launching this year. Verona is a great destination this year for Shakespeare fans- this year is the 400th anniversary of his death and many of his plays were set here. If you like shopping, Milan is the place for you. Ryanair will also launch flights to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. All new Ryanair routes will run from Stansted Airport.
