More Information About Butlins

Butlins was founded by Mr Billy Butlin in the mid-1930s in an attempt to provide affordable holidays for British families at a time when many could not afford to go away. It is a large holiday camp that provides entertainment, sport and recreation for families. Ten were built between the years 1936 and 1966, including one in the Bahamas, but competition from other holiday companies, as well as rising costs in the industry, forced many to close. Only three remain in operation today: Skegness, Minehead and Bognor Regis.
